In a heartening conservation effort, two Greater Adjutant Storks (locally known as Shagun), which were critically ill due to food poisoning, were successfully treated and released into the wild on Thursday.
The two storks were rescued from Borpukhuri area in Bantou village, 1 No. Bantou. They were brought to the Dhekiajuli State Veterinary Hospital, where they received treatment for three days under the care of Dr. Rupam Gogoi and the dedicated hospital staff.
Notably, four such endangered storks were rescued in total. While two were released earlier after recovery, the remaining two were set free today.
The Greater Adjutant Stork is a highly endangered species, and such successful rescue and rehabilitation efforts have been widely appreciated by nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.
