Assam Police have unearthed a large-scale fake education syndicate operating under the name English Education Academy in Dhubri’s Jhagrarpar area.
The academy is accused of issuing fake degrees and certificates in exchange for money. According to sources, the fraudulent institution has more than 20 branches across Assam.
The mastermind behind the racket, Jahidul Hussain, is currently absconding. Police have gathered significant evidence against him, including his involvement in issuing fake mark sheets. He is suspected of amassing crores of rupees through this scam.
Several popular YouTubers, including Ujjwal Barman from Coochbehar, are alleged to have promoted the fake institute. There are also serious allegations that the name of renowned singer Zubeen Garg was misused in social media promotions.
A large network of agents was supplying students to the academy. NKTV Plus has accessed phone numbers of several such agents.
Despite the gravity of the case, Dhubri Police are facing allegations of slow investigation. So far, none of the YouTubers involved in promoting the fake academy have been questioned.
The development has triggered strong public outrage, with concerned citizens demanding strict action against all those involved in exploiting students in the name of education.
Police have launched a massive manhunt to nab the absconding mastermind Jahidul Hussain and are continuing their investigation.
