The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) extended its heartiest congratulations to Himanta Biswa Sarma for assuming the much coveted position of the chief minister of Assam. The chief minister of Assam has had a long and illustrious association with the Assam Cricket Association.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, besides being one of the Vice-Presidents of Assam Cricket Association for a long span of 14 years from 2002-2016, had also served as the President of Assam Cricket Association from 2016-2019. It was a moment of great pride for Assam Cricket Association when, during his tenure as the President, ACA Stadium, Barsapara was able to host the first International T20 match between India and Australia on October 10, 2017.
Always keen to support Assam Cricket Association in its endeavours, Himanta Biswa Sarma played a key role in bringing IPL to Assam in 2020, which, however, couldn’t not be held due to the prevailing pandemic. While serving as the finance minister, Government of Assam, he had also helped Assam Cricket Association with financial assistance.
Hence, the Assam Cricket Association wishes the dynamic leader all the very best for his tenure as the chief minister of Assam. Romen Dutta, President, Assam Cricket Association and Devajit Saikia, Secretary, Assam Cricket Association wished Himanta Biswa Sarma a grand success for his new role, and are hopeful that under his able and visionary leadership, Assam would be able to achieve greater heights.
