Google, Microsoft, Amazon aid India in fighting Covid-19 crisis

Google has extended help to India out of the Covid-19 crisis. The tech-giant has announced ₹135 crore funding for India to support the country’s fight against the rapidly deteriorating pandemic situation.

The company said that the funding will help India to get urgent medical supplies including oxygen, medicines, vaccines and testing equipments. The much needed funding includes ₹112 crore in Ad Grants to local health authorities and non-profits for more language coverage options.

CEO of Google and Alphabet, Sundar Pichai tweeted “Devastated to see the worsening Covid crisis in India. Google & Googlers are providing Rs. 135 Crore in funding to @GiveIndia, @UNICEF for medical supplies, orgs supporting high-risk communities, and grants to help spread critical information.”

Satya Nadella, Microsoft CEO wrote, “I am heartbroken by the current situation in India. I’m grateful the U.S. government is mobilizing to help. Microsoft will continue to use its voice, resources, and technology to aid relief efforts, and support the purchase of critical oxygen concentration devices.”

Apart from the two, Sun Microsystems’ co-founder Vinod Khosla had promised to help with plane loads of oxygen, and e-commerce giant Amazon is donating oxygen concentrators and other equipment to several hospitals.
