Guwahati, June 22 (NKTV): A youth from Dibrugarh Dhiraj Bikash Gogoi started his voyage on the mighty Brahmaputra and has reached Sivasagar. What is interesting is that he is sailing on a boat made out of 1,600 discarded plastic bottles.

“I collected around 2,000 plastic bottles out of which 1,600 were glued together to construct the boat” Gogoi said. It took him 45 days to construct the boat which is 11 ft long, 4 ft wide and can carry six persons easily.

The main objective of the voyage is to generate awareness for a plastic and pollution free Brahmaputra. “I also want to promote river tourism” Gogoi said.

Gogoi is all set to reach Majuli today and halt for the night there.
