Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma Elected Leader of BJP Legislative Party, Set to Become Chief Minister for Second Term
In a unanimous decision, the BJP Legislative Party today elected Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma as its leader. He is all set to take oath as Chief Minister of Assam for the second consecutive term.
The meeting of the NDA Legislative Party was held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan. Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s name was proposed by many MLAs, including Ashok Singhal, Biswajit Daimary, Rajdeep Roy, Chakra Gogoi, Ranjit Dutta, Pijush Hazarika, Rameswar Teli, and Ajanta Neog.
AGP leader Atul Bora and BPF leader Rihon Daimary also proposed Dr. Sarma’s name from their respective parties.
All newly elected MLAs present in the meeting extended full support to the proposal. BJP Former National President J.P. Nadda formally announced Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma as the Leader of the BJP Legislative Party.
The swearing-in ceremony of the new NDA government is scheduled to be held on 12th May at Khanapara.
This development marks the beginning of the third consecutive term for the BJP-led NDA government in Assam.
