Guwahati witnessed history today as the Eastern Air Command of the Indian Air Force (IAF) organised the first-ever full-scale air show in the city to mark the 93rd anniversary of the IAF. The spectacular event unfolded over the Brahmaputra at Lachit Ghat, where more than 75 aircraft and helicopters took to the skies in over 25 breathtaking formations.
This year’s Air Force Day celebration carries the theme “Infallible, Impervious and Precise,” reflecting the IAF’s focus on operational excellence, resilience, and precision. The event was graced by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh.
Spectators along the riverbanks were treated to a stunning aerial display by some of the IAF’s most advanced aircraft, including the Rafale, Sukhoi, Apache, MiG, IL-78 refueler, Mirage, Jaguar, C-17 Globemaster, C-130 Hercules, Antonov AN-32, and Advanced Light Helicopter MK1, along with the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team. The participating aircraft operated from seven bases across the region — Guwahati, Tezpur, Jorhat, Chabua, Hasimara, Bagdogra, and Panagarh.
Adding an emotional touch, the show also paid tribute to Assam’s legendary singer Zubeen Garg, featuring his popular song “Mayabini Ratir Bukut” during the aerial display — a gesture that deeply moved the audience.
The event marked a new chapter in the history of the IAF and the Northeast, showcasing the strength, skill, and spirit of India’s air warriors against the stunning backdrop of the Brahmaputra.
