80th Independence Day: Assam Announces Chief Minister’s Medals for 69 Police, Fire & Prison Personnel
The Assam Government has announced the conferment of the Chief Minister’s Special Service Medal in a Crisis Situation and the Chief Minister’s Police Medal for Outstanding Service on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, 2026.
According to a notification issued by the Home (A) Department, Government of Assam, the Governor has approved the medals for police officers and officials of the Assam Police, Fire & Emergency Services and Prisons.
A total of 33 personnel have been selected for the Chief Minister’s Special Service Medal in a Crisis Situation. The list includes senior police officers such as Devojyoti Mukherjee, IPS; Ankur Jain, IPS; Padmanabh Baruah, IPS; Jayanta Sarathi Borah, APS; and several other officers and personnel from Assam Police, Fire & Emergency Services and Prisons.
Meanwhile, 36 personnel have been selected for the Chief Minister’s Police Medal for Outstanding Service. The recipients include Akhilesh Kumar Singh, IPS; Pabindra Kumar Nath, APS; Debasish Sarmah, APS; Leena Doley, APS; Patrick Ronghang, APS; Ujjal Pratim Baruah, APS; and other police personnel serving in different districts and units of Assam.
The notification was issued by the Home & Political Departments, Government of Assam, and directs the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Assam, to arrange publication and dissemination of the press release through local newspapers and electronic media.
