The Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) has announced a special Shradhanjali Programme to pay tribute to the legendary singer, actor, and cultural icon Zubeen Garg, who recently passed away, leaving an irreplaceable void in Assam’s cultural landscape.

The programme will be held on 29th September 2025 at 9:30 AM at the GSA office, Nehru Stadium, Guwahati. Admirers, artists, sportspersons, and members of the public are expected to gather to celebrate the life and legacy of Zubeen Da.

In a unique gesture blending culture with sports, the GSA—on behalf of the Assam Cricket Association—will also distribute 5,000 free tickets exclusively for Zubeen Garg fans to the Inaugural Match of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

The tickets will be given away from the same venue on the day of the programme, starting 10:00 AM onwards, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Officials said the initiative is meant to honour Assam’s pride, Zubeen Garg, while also encouraging public participation in a global sporting event taking place on Assamese soil.

“Through this programme, we aim to celebrate both the cultural and sporting spirit of Assam,” said Paresh Chandra Das of the Guwahati Sports Association.

The GSA has appealed to fans and the public to join the tribute and participate wholeheartedly in both the remembrance and the celebration
