Motorcycle Parts Take Centre Stage in Unique Durga Idol

13

A unique Durga idol featuring weapons crafted from Royal Enfield motorcycle spare parts and discarded mechanical components has become a major attraction at the Guwahati Sarbajanin Durga Puja in Latasil.

The installation, unveiled on Friday as part of an initiative titled DASHAROOPI, presents a distinctive blend of traditional religious art and motorcycle engineering. The initiative has been organised by Royal Enfield in association with Superhits 93.5 RED FM and will continue until October 20.

The most striking feature of the installation is the use of motorcycle components and scrap materials to create the traditional weapons of Goddess Durga. The trishul and other weapons have been fashioned from mechanical parts, offering an unconventional interpretation of the traditional Durga idol.

The installation draws a visual connection between the strength associated with Goddess Durga and the engineering elements of motorcycles. It also demonstrates how discarded mechanical components can be repurposed into creative works of art.

A women’s motorcycle ride was also organised as part of the inauguration, highlighting the growing participation of women in motorcycling. The event combined the Durga Puja celebrations with activities aimed at promoting women’s confidence, independence and empowerment.

Visitors to the Latasil Puja venue can also participate in lucky draws and contests being held during the five-day event, with gifts and prizes on offer.

The DASHAROOPI installation will remain open to visitors at Guwahati Sarbajanin Durga Puja, Latasil, from October 16 to 20. The initiative’s activities and highlights are also scheduled to be shared on RED FM’s social media platforms.
