Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi is set to create history as the first Indian to present an award at the 54th International Emmy Awards, scheduled to take place in New York on November 23.

According to The Hollywood Reporter India, producer Kavita Gupta, a board member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, played a key role in bringing Sethupathi to the prestigious ceremony.

His participation follows comedian and actor Vir Das, who became the first Indian to host the International Emmy Awards in 2024.

Sethupathi will not be the only Indian presence at this year’s ceremony. Two Indian productions have also secured nominations, including SonyLIV’s Real Kashmir Football Club, which has been nominated in the Best Drama Series category.

Known for films such as Pizza, Soodhu Kavvum and Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, Sethupathi has established himself as one of the prominent actors in Indian cinema. He won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Super Deluxe (2019).

He has also appeared in several major films across Indian cinema, including Petta, Master, Vikram and Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, along with the web series Farzi.

His selection as an award presenter marks another significant milestone for Indian representation at the international television awards.
