Allegations of ₹14 Lakh Embezzlement in Bordikorai River Erosion-Control Project in Jamugurihat
Serious allegations of financial irregularities have surfaced in the name of erosion-control work along the Bordikorai River at Balichapori in Jamugurihat.
According to local residents, contractor Padeswar Mili allegedly carried out minimal work by placing a few bamboo poles worth approximately ₹10,000, despite the project being sanctioned funds of around ₹35 lakh for the 2025–26 financial year.
The villagers allege that the contractor has already withdrawn the first instalment of ₹14 lakh from the sanctioned amount, despite the work remaining largely incomplete.
The project was reportedly sanctioned by the Water Resources Department through the Mising Autonomous Council.
Residents have also raised suspicions of possible collusion between the contractor and concerned officials. They have demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities and strict action against those found responsible.
