Petrol, diesel gets cheaper as Assam Govt reduce VAT by ₹7

The Government of Assam on Wednesday has decided to reduce VAT on fuel by 7 rupees with immediate effect after the central government decided to reduce excise duty on petrol by 5 rupees and diesel by 10 rupees. With this new order, petrol prices will be reduced by 12 rupees in the state and diesel will be cheaper by 17 rupees.

Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted “Heartening to learn Central Govt decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel. In consonance with the decision of Honble PM @narendramodi, I am pleased to announce that Assam Govt will also reduce VAT on petrol and diesel each by Rs 7/- with immediate effect @nsitharaman.”
