Following the devastating floods that affected Assam in 2026, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) will provide ₹20 crore in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support for the rebuilding and restoration of around 700 flood-affected schools across the state.
An Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between ONGC and the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) was signed on August 21, 2026, at Janata Bhawan in Dispur. The initiative will focus particularly on schools in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts, which were severely affected by the floods.
The restoration work is expected to be completed within seven months from the release of the CSR funds. The project aims to help the affected schools regain safe and functional infrastructure at the earliest, enabling students to resume their education in a secure environment.
The CSR intervention is expected to provide significant support to Assam’s ongoing flood recovery and reconstruction efforts, particularly in restoring educational infrastructure in the worst-affected areas.
