Nabajyoti Club registered an emphatic six-wicket victory over Beltola Sports Club in the ongoing Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) Qualifying Round Cricket League 2024-25, held at Nehru Stadium, Guwahati, on Saturday.
Winning the toss, Nabajyoti Club opted to field first — a decision that proved fruitful as Beltola Sports were bundled out for just 54 runs in 17.3 overs. For Beltola, Gauri Sankar Kashyap (12 off 28) and Partha Pratim Sarma (9 off 12) were the only double-digit scorers, as their batting lineup struggled against a disciplined Navayjyoti bowling attack.
Mayur Gupta was the standout bowler for Nabajyoti, claiming 3 wickets for 13 runs in 1.2 overs, while Amlanjyoti Sarma supported well with 1 for 17 in 3 overs.
In reply, Nabajyoti Club comfortably chased down the target, scoring 56 for 4 in just 7.2 overs. Chanekya Sarma (18 off 9) and Amit Boro (16 off 11) led the batting charge with aggressive knocks that sealed the win in style.
For Beltola Sports, Hrishikesh Tamuli was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 9 in 2.3 overs, while Kan Urang (2/12) and Jintu Kalita (2/10) also bowled effectively but couldn’t defend the low total.
With this victory, Nabajyoti Club continued their strong form in the tournament.
Tomorrow’s fixtures will feature Dynamo Club vs Frontier Club (9:00 AM) and Icon Sports Club vs Nabajyoti Club (12:00 PM) at the same venue.
