Nature’s Beckon celebrates National Wildlife Week 2023 with Wildlife Lecture & Formal Inauguration of ‘Into the Wild’

Nature’s Beckon, an environment activists’ group of NE India celebrates the 69th National Wildlife Week of India at Guwahati. Students from different schools of Guwahati participated in this celebration. This included many pre-primary students of St. Thomas Pre School, one of the leading preschools of Guwahati. Several other schools were represented by their students, this includes – Don Bosco School – Guwahati, St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School – Guwahati, Maria’s Public School -Guwahati, All Saint’s School – Guwahati, Tiny Tots Playschool – Guwahati. These students participated in this National Wildlife week celebration through their evocative art & craft works which has been put up for display in the premises of St. Thomas Pre School, situated near Dighalipukhuri in Guwahati.

Sri. Soumyadeep Datta, Director, Nature’s Beckon graced this celebration with an inspirational lecture on wildlife conservation. He appreciated the enthusiastic participation of all the students and urged the parents to encourage this spirit of the young minds to contribute to the biodiversity conservation movement of Assam in the coming years. He spoke about the important role of teachers in bringing out future environment leaders in India. He spoke about the ‘Ahum Basudhame Krit Mangaljanak’ program, which is building a new generation of environment leaders across Assam. Sri. Datta urged the parents to support active involvement of their children in the nature conservation movement of Assam, he encouraged them to connect these young minds with the beautiful forests of Assam and NE India. This celebration which includes school students in the early learner’s category (Age 3 – 9 years) marks a new journey of Ahum Basudhame Krit Mangaljanak, these students are few of the youngest participants from Guwahati in this mind-movement of Assam led by Nature’s Beckon. Sri. Datta spoke about the upcoming nature-orientation camps to be organized by Nature’s Beckon for these young learners in forests areas, wildlife sanctuaries and national parks of Assam. These camps will play a vital role in establishing a lifelong bond with nature for the participants. Interested parents may enroll their children for this trailblazing nature camps for the young learners.

All the students received participation certificates along with a poster of Dihing Patkai National Park as a token of appreciation for their active participation in this celebration.

The celebration included the formal inauguration of the book titled, ‘Into the Wild’, this is the English version of the popular Assamese book, ‘Aranyot Ekhoj Dokhoj’, penned by Sri. Soumyadeep Datta. The English version of this book is been translated by Smt. Novanita Sharma. Published by VISTAAR – Rong Route publication, Kolkata. This forest-based travelogue provides a rare opportunity for readers worldwide to experience the thrill and beauty of the most beautiful forest areas of Northeast India.

Novanita Sharma (Guwahati Coordinator – Nature’s Beckon), Sri. Kripa Lochan Das (Goalpara Coordinator – Nature’s Beckon), Sri. Golap Sarma ( Nature’s Beckom) graced the dais during this event. Sri. Kishore Choudhury (Nature’s Beckon) hosted the event. The celebration was attended by the students accompanied by their parents and supporters & members of Nature’s Beckon. Nature’s Beckon marks the 69th National Wildlife Week of India by reinstating its appeal to the honorable Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to immediately upgrade the status of the Udpad Beel, the Ajagarh Reserve Forest, and the Pancharatna Reserve Forest situated in the Goalpara district to ensure permanent protection and future conservation of these critically important natural habitats of Asian Elephants in Assam.
