In a remarkable achievement that further strengthens the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya’s (USTM) growing global research footprint, two distinguished faculty members of the university have been independently verified and ranked among the World’s Top 5% Scientists in the 2025 SciRank Global Registry.
The prestigious recognition has been awarded to Dr. Yugal Kishore Mohanta, Department of Applied Biology, and Dr. Mohit L. Deb, Department of Chemistry, for their outstanding contributions to scientific research and academic excellence. Dr. Mohanta has been recognised for his impactful research in the areas of applied biology, medicinal plants, microbiology, natural products, and public health, which has significantly contributed to advancing scientific knowledge and addressing global health challenges. Dr. Deb has earned recognition for his pioneering work in green organic synthesis and C–H functionalization, developing sustainable and environmentally friendly methodologies for the synthesis of biologically important compounds with applications in medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical research, and advanced materials science.
SciRank is a globally recognised platform that evaluates researchers based on rigorous bibliometric indicators, including research productivity, citation impact, academic influence, and contribution to knowledge creation across disciplines. Being listed among the world’s top five per centof researchers is considered a significant benchmark of scientific excellence and global recognition.
