Jumping Spider rediscovered in Assam after 129 years

Guwahati, July 4 (NKTV): In a sensational incident, a jumping spider has been rediscovered in Assam after 129 years and about 2600 kms from its type locality, the Sumatra Island. The species Dexippus kleini Thorell 1891 was found on cogon grass in Jharbari forest range in Kokrajhar. The present species is recorded for the first time since its original description 129 years ago.

Researchers from Zoological Survey of India and Department of Zoology Bodoland University- John T D Caleb, Paris Basumatary and Dulur Brahma rediscovered it and has been reported in Acta Arachnological journal.
