Zubeen Garg’s Death Anniversary Marks a Message of Unity as Assam-Nagaland MLAs Sign Harmony Pact

In a significant initiative promoting peace and harmony along the Assam-Nagaland border, the MLAs of Sarupathar and Bhandari held an important meeting on September 19, Zubeen Garg’s death anniversary, and signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation between the two regions.

The meeting between Sarupathar MLA Biswajit Phukan and Bhandari MLA Achumbemo Kikon focused on maintaining peace, harmony and mutual understanding along the inter-state border.

One of the key issues discussed was the proposed construction of a “Zubeen Garg Nahor Park” along the Assam-Nagaland border, as a tribute to the legendary Assamese singer and his enduring cultural legacy.

The two legislators signed an agreement emphasising peaceful coexistence, mutual understanding and cooperation. The agreement also includes provisions for forming a joint peace and coordination committee, promoting lawful economic activities, encouraging cultural exchanges and strengthening people-to-people relations.

Preserving Zubeen Garg’s cultural legacy and fostering a spirit of cooperation between Assam and Nagaland were also among the key objectives outlined in the agreement.

Following the meeting, Bhandari MLA Achumbemo Kikon enjoyed a traditional Assamese thali at the residence of Sarupathar MLA Biswajit Phukan, expressing his appreciation for the meal.

The meeting on Zubeen Garg’s death anniversary carried a message of unity and peaceful coexistence, with both legislators expressing their commitment to strengthening harmony and cooperation between the neighbouring regions.
