BJP led allies clean sweeps Assam By-Polls

The BJP led alliance has cleaned sweep the by-polls in Assam. BJP led alliance has won all the five seats which were up to grab in the bye-elections. The by-polls were held in five Assembly constituencies in Assam which are Gossaigaon, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Mariani and Thowra.

UPPL candidate Jiron Daimary won the Gossaigaon LAC with a margin of 28,366 votes. UPPL candidate Jiron had secured 58,278 votes, meanwhile, his Congress counterpart just got 24,064 votes.

BJP candidate Phanidhar Talukdar won the Bhabanipur seat by a margin of 25,641 votes. Phani Talukdar had secured 64,200 votes. While his Congress counterpart Sailendra Nath Das was only able to get 38,559 votes.

Meanwhile, in the Thawra constituency, BJP’s Sushanta Borgohain won the seat by a margin of 30,561 votes over Raijor Dol candidate Dhaijya Konwar. The BJP candidate received 54,956 votes while Konwar secured 24,395 votes.

BJP’s Rupjyoti Kurmi won the Mariani seat by a margin of 40,104 votes. Kurmi, who secured 55, 489 votes, defeated Congress candidate Luhit Konwar, who received 15,385 votes. 

In the Tamulpur constituency, UPPL won its second seat as Jolen Daimary defeated independent candidate Ganesh Kachary by over 60,000 votes to win the Tamulpur seat.
