Six Indian Tourists Go Missing in Nepal’s Dolpa After Heavy Snowfall

Six Indian tourists, including two women and four men, have gone missing while trekking towards Shey-Phoksundo Lake in Nepal’s Dolpa district following heavy snowfall in the Himalayan region.

The group was travelling from Dho towards the popular lake when they reportedly lost contact near the Numla and Bagla mountain passes. Authorities suspect they may have been stranded due to heavy snowfall and deteriorating weather conditions.

Dolpa Chief District Officer Junu Hamal said the tourists had continued their journey despite warnings from local residents about the dangerous weather and challenging mountain routes.

Rescue operations have been hampered by continuous snowfall, thick layers of snow and the lack of mobile network connectivity in the region. A Nepal Army team has been deployed to search for the missing tourists, while authorities have also sought helicopter assistance.

The district administration has urged trekkers to avoid risky mountain routes and remain in safe locations until weather conditions improve.

Shey-Phoksundo Lake, known as Nepal’s deepest lake, is a popular trekking destination. However, sudden snowfall and harsh Himalayan conditions can make journeys through the region extremely dangerous.
