44th PSPB Inter Unit Cricket Tournament Begins at ACA Cricket Stadium, Barsapara

The 44th Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) Inter Unit Cricket Tournament 2025–26 commenced with great enthusiasm at the ACA Cricket Stadium, Barsapara, on Saturday, with Oil India Limited hosting the prestigious annual event.

The five-day tournament was formally inaugurated by Dr. Ankur Baruah, Director (HR), Oil India Limited, in the presence of senior officials from Petroleum Sports Promotion Board and the Guwahati Sports Association. The inaugural ceremony witnessed an impressive gathering of players, officials, and cricket enthusiasts, setting the tone for an exciting series of matches.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Baruah extended a warm welcome to all participating teams and emphasized the importance of sports in fostering teamwork, discipline, and camaraderie among public sector undertakings. He expressed pride in Oil India Limited hosting the tournament and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to promoting sports and wellness across the petroleum sector.

This year’s edition marks a significant milestone, with a record 13 teams competing for the coveted title. The tournament also features players who have represented India at various levels, along with current state cricketers, adding to the competitive spirit of the championship.

The opening match was played between OIL-A and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), drawing keen interest from spectators and setting the stage for high-intensity encounters in the days ahead.

The tournament will be held from February 22 to 26, 2026, with matches scheduled at two premier venues — the ACA Cricket Stadium, Barsapara, and the ACA Academy Ground, Fulung — offering top-class facilities for both players and spectators.

The PSPB Inter Unit Cricket Tournament continues to serve as a vital platform for nurturing sporting talent within the petroleum sector, strengthening bonds among participating organizations, and promoting a spirit of healthy competition.
