Exciting cricketing action unfolded at Nehru Stadium today as two gripping encounters were played under the Guwahati Sports Association’s Qualifying Round Cricket League 2024–25.
In the first match of the day, Beltola Sports Club edged past Icon Sports Club in a nail-biting finish to win by one wicket. Batting first, Icon Sports Club managed 77 runs in 19.2 overs, with Rafikul Ahmed (19), Surajit Chakraborty (18), and Tinu Barman (13) contributing valuable runs. For Beltola, Hirakjyoti Das starred with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for just 9 runs.
In reply, Beltola Sports Club chased down the target with one wicket to spare, scoring 78 for 9 in 17.2 overs. Gauri Sankar Kashyap (21) and Partha Pratim Sarma (13) played crucial knocks. The chase saw tense moments, but Beltola held their nerve to seal victory. Manash Pratim Rajbongshi (3/23) bowled impressively for Icon but couldn’t prevent defeat.
In the second match, FC Green Valley dominated Dynamo Club with a commanding 78-run victory. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Green Valley piled up 175/7 in 20 overs, thanks to a solid innings from Imdadul Saikia (66 off 43 balls), supported by Sanjay Basfor (36). In reply, Dynamo Club struggled against disciplined bowling, managing only 97/6 in 20 overs.
For Dynamo, Akash Chakraborty (40 not out) fought a lone battle, while Sonu Basfor (2/4) and Panu Sinha (2/16) were among the wickets. However, Green Valley’s bowlers — led by Akash Chakraborty (3/32) and Suraj Kalita (2/21) — ensured their team’s emphatic win.
Both matches were officiated by umpires Manash Das and Jintu Das, with Nitul Ali as the scorer.
Tomorrow, Icon Sports Club will take on Nabajyoti Cricket Club in the next fixture of the league.
