Skill Utsav-2025 Celebrates Vocational Excellence in Assam

Down Town Charity Trust, a recognized Training and Management Partner of Samagra Shiksha, Assam, successfully organized Skill Utsav-2025 at Dhemaji Higher Secondary School, celebrating the spirit of skill-based education under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF).

The event aimed to inspire students to pursue vocational education and to highlight the growing importance of skill development in empowering Assam’s youth with employable and industry-relevant capabilities.

The programme was graced by Hon’ble Minister of Education, Govt. of Assam, Dr. Ranoj Pegu, and Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Sjt. Pradan Barua, along with principals of various schools implementing vocational education, Inspectors of Schools, trainers, and students.

Under the Samagra Shiksha initiative, down town Charity Trust implements vocational education across government schools in Assam, engaging 593 trainers across nine sectoral skill areas — Healthcare, Tourism & Hospitality, Retail, IT-ITeS, Agriculture, Beauty & Wellness, Electronics & Hardware, Apparel, and Automotive. The Trust provides structured training to students from Classes IX to XII, ensuring alignment with National Occupational Standards and real-world industry needs.

Skill Utsav-2025 also highlighted the achievements of students who completed vocational training and assessments. NSQF-aligned certificates, issued by the respective Sector Skill Councils, were awarded to students, motivating them to pursue higher-level job-oriented courses and enhancing their employability in related industries.

In recognition of their dedication, the top 10 skill trainers were felicitated for their outstanding contributions to vocational education.

A Skill Exhibition held during the event showcased innovative projects and practical demonstrations by students, promoting creativity, entrepreneurship, and applied learning.

Officials from Down Town Charity Trust reaffirmed their commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements through quality skill-based education.

The event concluded with a collective call to integrate skill development as a core component of education, enabling every student to graduate with both academic knowledge and practical expertise for a sustainable career.
