Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) sentenced ousted Awami League leader and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina to six months in prison in a contempt of court case Wednesday, according to reports by The Dhaka Tribune.

A three-member bench headed by Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder delivered the verdict. According to the report, the court also acquitted Shakil Akand Bulbul of Gobindaganj in Gaibandha to two months in prison.

This marks the first time that the ousted Awami League leader has been sentenced in any case since she left office and fled the country 11 months ago.

Earlier in June, ICT formally charged Hasina with crimes against humanity, alleging her role in ordering mass killings during a nationwide uprising in July, local media reported.
