Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the nation at 8 PM today, marking his first public statement since the recent ceasefire with Pakistan following Operation Sindoor.
Operation Sindoor was launched by India on May 7, 2025, in retaliation for a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of several civilians. The operation involved coordinated strikes by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force on nine confirmed terror sites—four in Pakistan and five in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). These strikes targeted facilities linked to terrorist groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen, resulting in the neutralization of over 100 terrorists and the destruction of multiple terror camps.
In the aftermath of the operation, Pakistan initiated four days of missile attacks and cross-border firing. However, the Indian Armed Forces’ decisive air strikes on Pakistani airbases prompted Islamabad to propose a ceasefire. The Line of Control and border areas have since remained largely peaceful.
Defense officials have emphasized that Operation Sindoor specifically targeted terror camps in Pakistan and PoK, asserting that any losses incurred by the Pakistani military were due to their proximity to these terror sites.
Prime Minister Modi’s address is expected to provide insights into the government’s stance on national security, the outcomes of Operation Sindoor, and the path forward in India-Pakistan relations.
