The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) successfully held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Guwahati today under the leadership of President Shri Taranga Gogoi. BCCI Honorary Secretary Shri Devajit Saikia graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The meeting was attended by ACA Secretary Shri Tridib Konwar, Vice President Shri Rajdeep Oja, Joint Secretary Shri Rajendra Singh, Treasurer Shri Chiranjit Langthasa, members of the Apex Council, and representatives from all affiliated district units.
During the AGM, members approved the Secretary’s Report for 2024–25, adopted the Treasurer’s Report and audited accounts for the same period, and passed the annual budget for 2025–26. The appointment of the auditor for the new financial year was also confirmed.
Before the start of the meeting a tribute was paid to Assam’s cultural icon Zubeen Garg.
The session featured detailed discussions on the overall development of cricket in Assam. Members reviewed player performances, ongoing projects, and future strategies aimed at strengthening the state’s cricketing ecosystem. Emphasis was placed on player welfare, infrastructure enhancement, and ACA’s long-term vision to elevate Assam’s standing in Indian cricket, and a District Coordination Committee was also formed during the meeting for better coordination between ACA with its Members unit.
New Apex Council
A key highlight of the AGM was the formation of the new Apex Council for the 2025–2028 term. Shri Taranga Gogoi was unanimously re-elected as President, while Shri Sanatan Das was elected unopposed as Secretary. Other office-bearers include Shri Romen Dutta as Vice President, Shri Rajendra Singh as Joint Secretary, Shri Anupam Deka as Treasurer, and Shri Mukuta Nanda Bhattacharjya as Member of the Apex Council.
Additionally, Shri Rajdeep Oja and Shri Sudip Chakraborty were inducted as Members of the Governing Council for 1 year.
On the occasion, Shri Devajit Saikia unveiled a coffee table book titled ‘Celebrating Cricket, Building Future’.
The AGM reaffirmed ACA’s commitment to nurturing grassroots cricket and ensuring inclusive growth across all districts. The Council resolved to strengthen coaching structures, expand youth talent identification programmes, and create more opportunities for players across all levels. It also discussed plans to fast-track ongoing infrastructure development projects, including the modernisation of stadiums and practice facilities.
Under the leadership of President Shri Taranga Gogoi and Secretary Shri Sanatan Das, the new Apex Council has laid out a clear roadmap for the next three years. Its focus will remain on boosting grassroots initiatives, supporting players of all age groups and genders, and promoting professionalism, transparency, and excellence in cricket administration.
The Assam Cricket Association expressed heartfelt gratitude to its affiliated members, district units, coaches, players, and well-wishers for their continued support. With renewed energy and a collective vision, the new Apex Council is committed to taking Assam cricket to greater heights in the years ahead.
