Nana Patekar Dies at 75: Veteran Actor Suffers Cardiac Arrest in Goa

Veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar has died at the age of 75 after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa. The actor was declared dead at around 5:20 AM after doctors made prolonged efforts to revive him.

According to reports, Patekar experienced severe chest pain at his home in Dona Paula and was subsequently found unconscious. A medical team was called to the residence, where cardiac massage and CPR were administered before he was rushed to a private hospital in Dona Paula.

Doctors continued resuscitation efforts for nearly 45 minutes, but the actor could not be revived. Dr Shekhar Salkar, Chief of the Oncology Department at Manipal Hospital, said that Patekar remained in asystole throughout the resuscitation attempt.

A medico-legal case (MLC) has been registered, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact medical and legal cause of death. His body has been shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim for the examination.

Patekar was in Goa in connection with an event and was reportedly last seen in public at an event in Dona Paula on October 4. According to PTI reports, he had attended the Samraat Club International installation ceremony in Goa. A video from the event has since surfaced on social media.

The veteran actor was last seen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘O’ Romeo’, which was released in February 2026. He also appeared in films including ‘Subedaar’, ‘Housefull 5’ and ‘Vanvaas’, and was associated with Prakash Jha’s ‘Sankalp’.

Nana Patekar began his acting career with ‘Gaman’ in 1978 and went on to establish himself as one of Indian cinema’s most respected performers. His acclaimed performances in films such as ‘Parinda’, ‘Prahaar’, ‘Krantiveer’, ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’, ‘Raajneeti’ and ‘Welcome’ earned him a lasting place in the history of Hindi cinema.

Beyond films, Patekar was also known for his association with social causes, particularly his efforts to support farmers and families affected by agrarian distress.

His death has triggered an outpouring of grief across the film industry, with several actors and colleagues paying tribute to the veteran performer. Among them, Akshay Kumar expressed his grief over the loss, remembering Patekar and his contribution to Indian cinema.

The final cause of Nana Patekar’s death will be confirmed after the post-mortem examination and subsequent medical findings.
