The Indian Air Force (IAF) is participating in the 8th edition of the bilateral air exercise Garuda 25 with the French Air and Space Force (FASF), being held from November 16 to 27, 2025, at Mont-de-Marsan Air Base. The IAF contingent arrived in France on November 10.

For this year’s edition, the IAF has deployed its Su-30MKI fighter aircraft, supported by a C-17 Globemaster III for airlift during induction and de-induction. The IL-78 air-to-air refuelling tankers are also part of the deployment, extending the range and endurance of the Su-30MKIs during training missions.

During the exercise, IAF pilots will fly alongside French multirole fighters in a series of complex, simulated combat scenarios designed to test air-to-air combat, air defence operations and coordinated strike missions. The drills aim to refine operational tactics in a realistic environment and enhance interoperability between the two air forces.

The exercise also serves as a platform for professional exchanges, allowing personnel from both sides to share operational experiences, best practices and insights into contemporary air combat strategies.
