Health Minister Keshab Mahanta visits GMCH, takes stock of Covid-19 situation

Keshab Mahanta, after taking charge as the new health minister of Assam, visited GMCH today. The minister took stock of the ongoing Covid-19 situation in GMCH. The new health minister said that currently there are around 2000 Covid-19 beds available in Guwahati city.

The minister further added that there are only six ICU beds available in the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital and in the coming 25 days 200 more ICU beds will be added to cope up with the Covid-19 situation.

Regarding vaccine supply Keshab Mahanta said that the vaccination distribution is with the central government and not the state government and the Centre is providing us enough stocks of vaccine right now. The minister also said that Covid-19 tests will be ramped up at rapid rate so that there is no health crisis in the state.
