Guwahati Sports Association mourns the passing of former Basketball Secretary Nipen Chandra

The Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) deeply mourns the passing of one of its esteemed former members, Nipen Chandra, who breathed his last at 8:45 am today at his residence in Fatasil Ambari, Guwahati, at the age of 89.

A dedicated and passionate contributor to the city’s sporting fraternity, Nipen Chandra served the GSA with distinction in various capacities. He notably held the position of Basketball Secretary, where he worked tirelessly to promote and develop the sport in the region. His leadership extended to mentoring young talent, having managed the Sub-Junior Boys District Team on several occasions.

Nipen Chandra also played a key role in organizing major sporting events, including serving as a committed member of the food committee for the prestigious Bordoloi Trophy. His selfless service, quiet dedication, and unwavering support to the association have left a lasting imprint on the GSA family and the broader sporting community.

He is survived by his son and daughter, and we extend our deepest condolences to them and other members of his family. His contributions will always be remembered with respect and gratitude.
