City Cricket Club thrash Rangia Cricket Academy by 161 Runs in APCC

City Cricket Club, Guwahati, delivered a commanding performance to defeat Rangia Cricket Academy by a massive 161 runs in the Intra Zonal Round (Head Quarter Zone) of the 8th Assam Premier Club Championship 2025-26 at Judges’ Field on Tuesday.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, City Cricket Club piled up an imposing total of 259/7 in their allotted 50 overs. The innings was anchored by a fluent 54 off 43 balls from Pankaj Rai, who struck six boundaries and a six. Rahul Hazarika contributed a steady 39 off 58 deliveries, while Vedant Pandey added a valuable 37. Hiyan Kashyap chipped in with a brisk 30 to push the total beyond the 250 mark.

In response, Rangia Cricket Academy struggled to build momentum and were bowled out for 98 in 36.5 overs. Dweep Jyoti Kalita top-scored with 32 off 53 balls, while Sanjeeb Kashyap made 12. However, the rest of the batting lineup failed to withstand City CC’s disciplined bowling attack.

Raaj Chetry was the standout performer with the ball, claiming an impressive 4 wickets for 20 runs in his 10 overs. Abhijot Singh Sidhu supported well with 3/30 in 9.5 overs, while Sanjib Barman and Om Prakash Mahanta picked up two and one wickets respectively to seal the emphatic victory.

Earlier, Rangia’s bowlers had moments of resistance, with Rupjyoti Das taking 3/40 in 10 overs and Prasanta Barman claiming 1/31, but they were unable to contain City’s strong batting display.

For his match-winning spell, Raaj Chetry was adjudged the Player of the Match.

The tournament, organized by the Guwahati Sports Association under the aegis of the Assam Cricket Association, continues at Judges’ Field, Guwahati. In tomorrow’s match, Evergreen Club, Goalpara, will take on Tamulpur Cricket Academy.
