The Indian government has authorized the reopening of 32 airports that were temporarily closed amid recent hostilities with Pakistan. This decision follows a U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement between the two nations, leading to a significant de-escalation of tensions along the border. (AP News)

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) on Monday, lifting restrictions on these airports, which had been shut down since May 9 due to cross-border drone and missile attacks. The closures were a response to heightened tensions following the Pahalgam massacre, where 26 tourists were killed by terrorists. (DD News, DD News)

The affected airports span across northern and western regions of India, including cities such as Chandigarh, Srinagar, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bhuntar, Kishangarh, Patiala, Shimla, and Kangra-Gaggal. (DD News)

In parallel, Pakistan reopened its airspace on Saturday, signaling a mutual move towards normalization. India’s leading airline, IndiGo, announced plans to gradually resume operations on the previously suspended routes. (Reuters)

This reopening of air travel infrastructure marks a hopeful step towards restoring normalcy and easing tensions between the two neighboring countries.
