Barpeta Crowned ACA Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament 2026 Plate Group Champions

The Assam Cricket Association successfully concluded the Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament 2026 – Plate Group, with Barpeta emerging champions after a dominant six-wicket victory over Dhemaji in the final held at MSA Stadium on Friday.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Dhemaji struggled against Barpeta’s disciplined bowling attack and were bundled out for 115 runs in 35 overs. Priyanshu top-scored with 31 runs off 39 deliveries, while Aryan Kashyap contributed 25 runs from 56 balls.

Barpeta’s bowlers delivered an impressive performance, led by Amlanjyoti Das, who picked up 3 wickets for 33 runs. Bikiran Das and Hridip Deka also chipped in with two wickets each to restrict Dhemaji to a modest total.

In reply, Barpeta chased down the target comfortably, scoring 121/4 in 25.4 overs. Denish Das remained unbeaten on 45 off 47 balls, while Hrishikesh Das provided solid support with an unbeaten 29 off 32 deliveries.

For Dhemaji, Abhijot Singh Sidhu claimed two wickets, while Priyanshu and Rajesh Prasad took one wicket each.

Adding emotional significance to the tournament, the Assam Cricket Association dedicated the Plate Group championship trophy as the “Naba Kamal Bhuyan Memorial Trophy” in honour of Late Naba Kamal Bhuyan, recognising his immense contribution and lasting legacy in Assam cricket.

The champions Barpeta received a cash award of ₹10 lakh, while runners-up Dhemaji were awarded ₹7 lakh.

The closing ceremony was attended by Smt Ayushi Jain, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Darrang; Shri Romen Dutta, ACA Vice President; Shri Anupam Deka, ACA Treasurer; Shri Mukuta Nanda Bhattacharjya, Apex Council Member, ACA; Shri Gurujyoti Das, President of Mangaldai Sports Association; Shri Pranab Barua, Secretary of Mangaldai Sports Association, along with other district officials.
