7

The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) held its State Executive Meeting at Uzanbazar in Guwahati. The meeting was attended by AASU President, General Secretary, Chief Advisor, and most other central leaders.

After detailed deliberations, the student body took several key decisions:

  • AASU will organise a felicitation programme on 18 May to honour students who have successfully passed the HSLC and Higher Secondary examinations. Meritorious students from across the state will be felicitated at the event.
  • The organisation will conduct the Pratyasha Entrance Examination on 31 May simultaneously in Guwahati, Sivasagar, Tezpur, and Silchar.
  • The Central Rabha Day will be celebrated this year in Barpeta.
  • The annual session of the Assam Unnati Sabha will be held on 28 May at Kalakshetra, Guwahati.

The meeting strongly emphasised the need for an Economic struggle in Assam. AASU urged the government to give greater importance to practical and skill-based education in the curriculum. The student body also demanded that the government implement Clause 6 of the Assam Accord in letter and spirit without further delay.

The resolutions adopted at the meeting reflect AASU’s continued focus on education, cultural identity, and the overall socio-economic development of Assam.
