Assam Govt declares three-day state mourning for Assam Police martyrs

Guwahati, July 27 (NKTV): The Government of Assam has declared a three-day state mourning from Tuesday to condole the demise of Assam Police personnel who lost their lives in the Assam-Mizoram border row. During this period, the national flag will fly at half-mast, an order issued by the General Administration Department said.

“We are deeply anguished by the loss of lives of our brave Assam Police personnel. I visited Silchar SP office and paid floral tributes to the five martyrs and salute their sacrifice” Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma stated in a post on Twitter. Earlier today, the chief minister visited the Silchar Medical College and Hospital and met the police personnel injured in the attack.

The CM has announced compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the kin of each martyr.
