Assam Education Department Issues Show-Cause Notice Over Unauthorised Message Circulation

The Kamrup Metro district unit of Samagra Shiksha, Assam has issued a show-cause notice for allegedly circulating an unauthorised message in an official Cluster Group using the name and designation of the Inspector of Schools/DEEO, Kamrup Metro.

According to the notice, an “unauthorised and objectionable” message was circulated in the official Cluster Group, in which the name and designation of the Inspector of Schools were allegedly used without prior approval, authorisation or instruction from the competent authority.

The department stated that no CRCC is authorised to issue, circulate or attribute any communication to the Inspector of Schools unless it has been duly approved or officially communicated by the competent authority.

Meanwhile, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said in a social media post that the Education Department had not issued any instruction imposing restrictions on individuals visiting government or provincialised schools. He described a message circulating in this regard as “not true.”

The notice states that failure to submit an explanation within the stipulated period would lead the department to proceed ex parte, without further reference to the concerned official.
