Assam Government Revises MBBS, BDS Fees at Government Medical Colleges
The Assam government has increased the fees for MBBS and BDS courses in the state’s government medical and dental colleges.
The revised fee structure will apply to students enrolled in government-run medical and dental colleges, with the fee amount linked to the annual income of the student’s family. Under the new structure, the annual fee for the MBBS course has been fixed at ₹1 lakh, while the fee for BDS has been set at ₹75,000. However, students from families with an annual income of less than ₹4 lakh will be required to pay only 5% of the prescribed fee. The new fee structure also provides for concessions in special circumstances. College principals will have the authority to grant a fee waiver of up to 50% to students, subject to the applicable provisions. The revised structure is aimed at linking the financial burden of medical and dental education with the economic status of students’ families.
