APCC Guwahati leg opens at Judges’ field with Bud CC’s 79-Run Win

The Assam Premier Club Championship 2025–26 (Guwahati Leg) began in emphatic fashion at the historic Judges’ Field on Saturday, with Bud Cricket Club registering a commanding 79-run victory over Titan Club in the opening match of the tournament.

Winning the toss, Bud Cricket Club opted to bat first and posted an imposing total of 230 for 7 in 40 overs, setting the tone for the championship. The innings was anchored by a brilliant knock from S.K. Jnyanam, who scored 59 runs off 50 balls, laced with six boundaries and a six. He was well supported by Gaurav Thakuria (49) and Nibir Deka (34), while Sanjay Kumar Singh chipped in with a useful 28.

In reply, Titan Club were bowled out for 151 in 36.1 overs, despite fighting contributions from Abhishek Gupta (42) and Yuvraj Tewari (28). Bud Cricket Club’s bowlers kept a tight grip on the proceedings, with Debojit Mahanta (3/31) and Kamakshya Singh (2/49) delivering crucial breakthroughs. The bowling effort was further strengthened by disciplined spells from the rest of the attack.

For Titan Club, S.K. Jnyanam once again made an impact with the ball, claiming 2 wickets for 25 runs, underlining his all-round brilliance.

The opening ceremony of the championship was graced by Vinod Sharma, former First-Class cricketer of Assam, who attended the occasion as the Chief Guest. Several dignitaries from the Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) were present. Their presence added prestige to the tournament, which will run from January 11 to February 17, 2026, featuring top club teams from across Assam. The action continues tomorrow with Ankurjyoti Club taking on City Cricket Club, promising another exciting contest in the championship.
