Ankurjyoti Club Clinch 12-Run Win Over Young Amateur Club

An all-round performance helped Ankurjyoti Club secure a narrow 12-run victory over Young Amateur Club in Match No. 06 of the 8th Assam Premier Club Championship (Guwahati Leg) 2025–26 at Judges’ Field here on Saturday.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Ankurjyoti Club posted a competitive total of 258 for 9 in the allotted 40 overs. Manas Gupta anchored the innings with a fine knock of 76 runs off 89 balls, smashing four boundaries and two sixes. He was well supported by Bhavyamanyu Baruah, who scored a brisk 57 off 81 balls, while Sangeet Das added a valuable 45 runs to strengthen the middle order.

In reply, Young Amateur Club fought hard but fell short, finishing at 246 for 8 in 40 overs. Sanjeev Malakar led the chase with an impressive 78 off 69 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes. Chandrapal Thakuria also contributed a solid 60, while Md. Aftab Hussain chipped in with 30 runs.

Ankurjyoti Club’s bowlers held their nerve in the death overs. Kunal Basfor emerged as the standout performer, claiming four wickets for 30 runs in seven overs, earning him the Man of the Match award. Victor Kashyap took two wickets, while Bhavyamanyu Baruah and Prince Thakur picked up one wicket each to restrict the opposition.

Earlier, for Young Amateur Club, Chandrapal Thakuria impressed with the ball, returning figures of 3 for 38, while Angshunay Bharadwaj also picked up three wickets.

With this win, Ankurjyoti Club gained valuable momentum in the tournament. The next match of the championship will see A.S.E.B. Sports Club take on Bud Cricket Club.
