A shocking incident of alleged robbery has come to light in Guwahati, where an unidentified man reportedly drugged a Rapido rider by offering him sweets laced with an intoxicating substance before fleeing with his motorcycle and mobile phone. The incident took place on Thursday evening, triggering concern among local residents.
According to reports, the victim, identified as Prabal Barman, had picked up an unidentified passenger from the Magazine area for a ride to Jalukbari at around 6 PM on Thursday. During the journey, the passenger reportedly bought sweets from a shop in Bamunimaidam and offered them to Barman. However, shortly after consuming the sweets and drinking water, Barman suddenly began feeling unwell.
As his condition deteriorated and he started losing consciousness, Barman stopped his motorcycle and called his mother. However, the passenger allegedly snatched his mobile phone, switched it off and fled with the motorcycle.
Meanwhile, Prabal Barman reportedly remained unconscious by the roadside in the Fancy Bazar area throughout the night. The accused allegedly fled with his TVS Apache motorcycle bearing registration number AS-14V-5928, along with his mobile phone.
Meanwhile, after failing to trace the young man, his family approached Noonmati and Jalukbari Police Stations. However, the family has alleged that the police neither accepted the victim’s complaint nor extended any assistance.
Barman reportedly regained consciousness the following morning. He then managed to reach his rented accommodation in Magazine by taking an auto-rickshaw.
