NDA Secures Decisive Victory in Assam; BJP Registers Historic Hat-trick
The NDA alliance has achieved a massive victory in the Assam Legislative Assembly Elections 2026, winning a total of 102 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alone has secured 82 seats, ensuring the party’s third consecutive term in power — a historic hat-trick.
Addressing a press conference at his official residence, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed deep gratitude to the people of Assam for their overwhelming support.
Highlighting the strength of the mandate, Dr. Sarma stated that the opposition is so weak that there will be no Leader of Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly this time.
He also noted with satisfaction that the new generation, particularly Gen-Z, has strongly supported the BJP.
On the issue of Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi, the Chief Minister remarked, “I would be happy if Akhil Gogoi is present in the Assembly.”
With this emphatic victory, the BJP and NDA alliance are now firmly positioned to form the government once again and continue their development agenda for the state.
