Preparations Begin for Formation of New Government in Assam
The process for forming the new government in Assam has begun in full swing at the BJP State Headquarters, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan.
According to sources, the swearing-in ceremony of the new Assam government is likely to take place on 8th or 10th May, 2026. Meanwhile, the newly elected BJP government in West Bengal is scheduled to take oath on 9th May.
A formal request has been sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a suitable date for the Assam swearing-in ceremony. Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are expected to attend the event.
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is also likely to meet the Governor of Assam today to discuss the formalities related to government formation.
The BJP and its NDA allies are working swiftly to complete all necessary procedures following their decisive victory in the 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly Elections.
