Mastermind of Sensational Morikolong Robbery Arrested

In a major breakthrough, Assam Police have arrested the mastermind of the daring robbery at Morikolong along with another accomplice.

The arrested persons have been identified as Omar Ali (mastermind) and Mintu Hussain. Three other members of the gang are still absconding.

The incident took place late Friday night when five armed robbers broke into the residence of Dr. Ranjit Saikia at Morikolong. The gang looted cash and valuables and also physically assaulted Dr. Saikia and his wife. Dr. Saikia’s wife sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Guwahati.

Following the incident, a team led by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) visited the spot and took stock of the situation. Police identified the culprits with the help of CCTV footage.

During the operation, police recovered a total of Rs. 44,000 in cash from the two arrested persons. Omar Ali is a habitual offender and was previously involved in several robbery cases.

The police have registered a case and further investigation is underway to nab the remaining members of the gang.
