Three Young Women Killed in Horrific Road Accident in Guwahati
In a tragic road accident in the early hours of Sunday, three young women lost their lives when their Swift car collided with a stationary truck near the Gate Hospital in Mathgharia area of Guwahati.
The white Swift car (AS 01 GP 0562) was reportedly returning from a comedy show at Lakhra when the accident occurred around 4:19 AM. The vehicle rammed into the rear of a stationary truck at high speed.
The deceased have been identified as:
- Puja Saha, resident of Goalpara
- Akanksha Saikia, resident of Sapekhati (Dhunia Pathar village), originally from Balaji area, Guwahati
- Armina Ahmed of Assam down town university.
All three bodies have been sent to GMCH Mortuary. One of the victims, Akanksha Saikia, was a talented Sattriya dancer and an employee of Royal Global University along with Puja Saha.
According to preliminary information, the car was carrying three young women and one young man. Two women died on the spot, while the third succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
The driver of the Swift car fled the scene and is currently absconding. Police have launched a manhunt to nab him.
The incident has left the families of the victims devastated. Akanksha’s mother fell seriously ill upon hearing the news and had to be rushed to the hospital. A pall of gloom has descended over both families.
This tragic accident has once again highlighted the issue of road safety in the city during late-night hours.
