Teok Youths Create ‘Zubeen Seuj Chapori’ Forest on Brahmaputra Sandbar

10

In a unique and inspiring environmental initiative, a group of young people from Teok have undertaken the task of creating a forest on the vast sandbar (Chapori) of the Brahmaputra river.

The forest has been named ‘Zubeen Seuj Chapori’. The effort is being led by local youth Rupak Tayung.

So far, the team has planted a large number of Simolu trees on the sandbar. The plan is to develop the entire area exclusively with Simolu trees.

The initiative holds special significance as the region was once a natural habitat of the endangered Greater Adjutant Stork (locally known as Shagun). However, due to environmental changes over the years, these rare birds have disappeared from the area. Through this project, the youths are making a sincere attempt to restore the lost ecological balance and bring back the glory of the past.

This green initiative by the young people of Teok has been widely appreciated as a positive step towards environmental conservation and creating a greener future.
