India and China held the 23rd round of Corps Commander-Level border talks aimed at maintaining stability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

“The 23rd round of India-China Corps Commander-Level Meeting was held at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting point on 25 October 2025. This was the first meeting of the General Level Mechanism in the Western Sector since the 24th round of Special Representatives Talks held on 19 August 2025. The talks were held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.

The MEA added that since the India-China Border Patrol Agreement, signed in October 2024, peace and stability have prevailed in the border regions. Both countries have taken steps to improve bilateral relations, including the resumption of direct flights and the expansion of investment and trade ties.

India and China also agreed to continue using existing military and diplomatic mechanisms to address any issues that may arise on the ground and to sustain stability along the LAC, the foreign ministry said.

China’s defence ministry noted that in the latest round of high-level military talks, held on the Indian side of the meeting point on Saturday, both sides agreed to continue their dialogue through military and diplomatic channels.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited China in August for the first time in seven years to attend a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) regional security bloc.

During the visit, PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed that India and China were development partners, not rivals, and discussed ways to strengthen trade ties amid global tariff uncertainty.
