The Ministry of Panchayati Raj will host 210 Panchayat representatives from 28 States and Union Territories as Special Guests at the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort in New Delhi on August 15. They will be accompanied by their spouses and nodal officers, taking the total number of participants to 425.
A felicitation ceremony for these guests will be organised on August 14 in the national capital. The event will be attended by Union Minister of Panchayati Raj Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel, and senior ministry officials, including Secretary Vivek Bharadwaj.
The theme for this year’s programme, “आत्मनिर्भर पंचायत, विकसित भारत की पहचान”, reflects the vision of self-reliant Panchayats as a foundation for a developed India. The occasion will also mark the launch of the AI-powered SabhaSaar application and the release of the 16th issue of Gramoday Sankalp magazine.
A notable number of this year’s Special Guests are women Panchayat leaders who have made visible contributions to their Gram Panchayats by improving infrastructure, public services, and inclusive community initiatives. Many have played a key role in implementing flagship government schemes such as Har Ghar Jal Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin, and Mission Indradhanush, while also introducing innovative grassroots solutions.
