Guwahati, July 7 (NKTV): Veteran Actor Dilip Kumar breathed his last today morning at Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai, where he was undergoing treatment. He was 98 at the time of his demise.

He was admitted to Hinduja Hospital after experiencing breathlessness in June.

Also known as the “Tragedy King”, he has been credited for bringing a distinct form of method acting technique to cinema.

Dilip Kumar made his Hindi film debut in 1944 with the movie ‘Jwar Bhata’. In a career spanning over six decades, Dilip Kumar gave multiple hits such as ‘Mughal-e-Azam’, ‘Naya Daur’, ‘Baabul’, ‘Deedar’, ‘Madhumati’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Ganga Jamuna’, ‘Ram Aur Shyam’ and ‘Karma’ among others.

Dilip Kumar was awarded India’s second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, in 2015 for his contributions towards Indian Cinema.

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi among others have expressed their grief on the demise of the legendary actor.
