Trump TV goes live: White House launches 24/7 streaming platform after CNN, MS NOW, Politico lawsuit
The White House has launched a 24/7 streaming platform dubbed “Trump TV”, hours after CNN, MS NOW and Politico sued the Trump administration over restrictions barring their journalists from accessing the White House.
The development comes amid an escalating confrontation between the Trump administration and major US news organisations over press access and coverage of the president.
Called “Trump TV: The Essentials Station”, the platform offers continuous video coverage of President Donald Trump, including footage from his past speeches, public appearances, administration announcements and other official events. The stream was launched through the White House’s official YouTube channel on Monday.
The White House announced the launch on X, saying the service would stream around the clock and be updated in real time with Trump’s “top past moments”, announcements and the latest developments from his administration.
The inaugural broadcast featured footage from Trump’s previous public appearances, including his swearing-in ceremony as the 47th president of the United States.
The launch came on the same day CNN, MS NOW and Politico filed a federal lawsuit challenging the administration’s decision to revoke access for their journalists. The three organisations have argued that the restrictions violate their First Amendment rights and amount to retaliation over their reporting. They have asked the court to restore their access to the White House.
The dispute intensified after Trump announced that the three organisations would be barred from the White House, accusing them of publishing what he described as “fake news”. The administration has maintained that the First Amendment protects the press’s right to publish but does not guarantee individual news organisations access to the White House grounds, briefing room or presidential press pool.
Trump defended the restrictions on Monday while speaking to reporters outside Gracie Mansion after meeting New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Asked about the possibility of media organisations boycotting him, Trump said he was not concerned and pointed to the continued presence of reporters covering him.
